Episode 32 – Google’s Answer to “Your profile could not be opened correctly in Chrome”
So I spoke with a Google Tech today and he gave me an answer. I have to wait until a patch is pushed out to Chrome to fix this issue with the profile not opening correctly.
Thanks for this – I have had the same problem on opening up Chrome, started about a week ago and is a real pain. Solution will be welcome! J 7July2012

Hi again from London UK! Just to let you know that for some unknown reason the annoying Google Chrome ‘could not be opened’ message has this week stopped appearing. Hope it’s the same for you across the Pond! Best wishes, John
can you tell us what version of Chrome do you have? wondering if an update was pushed out

I can only tell you that my PC was purchased new with Google Chrome installed, on 5 January 2012.
