There are lots of great reasons to use an Android emulator. Perhaps you’re thinking of testing out some cool apps, but you don’t have enough space on your Android device. Plus, if you are leaving the iOS world and you want to test drive the Android world before you make moves to Google Nexus – this is the way to do it.
We take a look at Andy. Andy breaks down the barrier between desktop and mobile computing, while keeping a user up to date with the latest Android OS feature upgrades. It also provides users with unlimited storage capacity because it uses your local machine hard drive space, and you have the freedom to play the most popular mobile games on a desktop. So how to get started with Andy:
Step 1: Download your copy of Andy here. [click on the word Andy :)]
Step 2: Double-click on the installer and except the User Account Control dialog box.
Step 3: Click on Next.
Step 4: Choose your destination or keep the default and click on Next.
Step 5: Leave everything the way it is because you need everything listed on the dialog box to deploy Andy correctly into your machine.
Step 6: Click Next.
Step 7: Check if you want a shortcut on the desktop, if not click on Next.
Step 8: Click Install.
Step 9: Take a coffee break or a bathroom break and come back.
Step 10: Still going because it needs to install Virtualbox.
Step 11: Click on Install.
Step 12: Click on Finish.
Step 13: Microsoft Firewall will be asked you to access Andy access to your network. Click Allow Access.
Step 14: The virtual machine will start up automatically.
Step 15: Pick your language and select Start.
Step 16: Setup you Gmail account if you have one, if not click on No.
Step 17: I have a Gmail account so I set it up ;).
Step 18: Click on Ok.
Step 19: Allow Gmail to finish signing in.
Step 20: This is up to you, but I skip it and clicked on Not now.
Step 21: Skipped it again, but it’s up to you if you want to set it up.
Step 22: If you want your Google Account that you setup early to be a backup for you device leave everything checked off and click on the arrow.
Step 23: Click on the arrow to go next.
Step 24: Your done. Congrats!!!
Step 25: Now, this is optional but it will prompt you if you want to do the 1ClickSync which sync application from Andy to your mobile device.
Step 26: You are in an Android environment.
Step 27: You can run this virtual machine like a tablet and download all the apps you want. Enjoy!
