Mac OS X Yosemite Many Mac users that are eager to upgrade to the latest Operating System from Apple are having some issues with Final Cut Pro. I did a video on how to fix the issue, but for some it worked and for others it didn't. A YouTuber named slackaxeable was nice to enough to try out what I recommended which was to update Final Cut Pro or re-installing it and re-installing worked out for him but with a catch. 10-17-2014 10-35-55 AM   It looks like you will need to completely remove your old version of Final Cut Pro to do a clean install from the Mac App Store. Here are the steps:

If you try to go into the App Store and see if Final Cut Pro has a new version [10.1.3] to push down to your machine you might get this: “No updates available” means that you would need to

dude but i downloaded the torrent file or final cut pro from and not from the app store..
and i have like 4-5 projects on final cut pro and the fix in the video shows an error Final cut pro unexpectedly quit.
    help please

    • The torrent should be bandaid to get some people up and running for now. The permanent fix for this FCP issue is to get a legit copy of the software within the App Store.

  9. Thanks ! I don’t mind to pay, I just need to be sure that my projects will be there like the last time I left them. I can’t update officially a pirated version, can you please advise me all the steps to follow to finally access to my movies ? Thank you so much in advance

    • Your final cut pro projects are normally stored inside the Movie folder on your computer. That’s the default area, but if you moved the project file when you created a new project will need to backup that location. If you are using an FCP version, the new created libraries containers for projects.

  10. So basically if I have a pirated version of FCPX, update to Yosemite, all my projects are unusable and gone forever? There must be a solution, please help !!

  11. can we update final cut in the app store if the version is a pirated version…..??

  12. You say “Removing and Reinstalling Final Cut Pro X in OS X Mavericks” Does that mean I should do all this BEFORE upgrading to Yosemite?? Or does it matter? Im assuming most people ran into this issue after upgrading to Yosemite so removing and reinstalling in Yosemite will work? Please help. Don’t want to upgrade yet, just in case. Thank you for putting this out!!!

    • Great questions. But hard to answer because it’s hard to say if when upgrading to Yosemite breaks final cut because not everyone has the issue. I would say upgrade your final cut to the latest with all the patches the push out Yosemite to your machine. Please make sure you back up your machine and final cut pro project folders.

  13. What if I downloaded it without buying it, is there a fix for that?
