Importing Windows 8.1 in MDT 2013 and Creating a Task Sequence

We are finally done upgrading our ADK (Assessment and Development Toolkit) to version 8.1, so it could support Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2. Also we were successful  in upgrading our current MDT 2012 to MDT 2013. Now it’s time to importing an operating system (Windows 8.1) and create a task sequence within the deployment share.

Step 1 – Right-click on the Operating System node and pick “Import Operating System”

Step 2 – Pick your OS Type – I picked “Full set of source files”

Step 3 – Locate the location where your Windows 8.1 files are located – I have the CD in the CD Drive

Step 4 – Name your directory

Step 5 – At the Summary page. Click Next

Step 6 – Once completed you will get a confirmation dialog box

Step 7 – Time to create a Task Sequence for your Windows 8.1 operating system

Step 8 – Right-click on the Task Sequence node and Create a new Task Sequence – the wizard will pop up and enter all the information needed

Step 9 – Select a Template – “Standard Client Task Sequence ”

Step 10 – Select OS

Step 11 – Specify the Product Key

Step 12 – Provide the OS Settings

Step 13 –  Very important! Give your local computer Administrator a password

Step 14 – Once at the Summary > Click on Next

Step 15 – Done. Congrats!!!!
