Synology released their first router at CES 2016 this year – the RT1900ac.  Synology is well known for creating network attached storage (NAS) and private cloud solutions that transform the way people share, manage, and backup data – at home and at work.

The new RT1900ac comes with fast performance speeds of up to 1.9Gbps and the most intuitive operating system in the industry – Synology Router Manager (SRM).  Typical routers have confusing interfaces, but SRM resembles a desktop – making it extremely easy to use.  Moreover, the router works as a private cloud and multimedia player that offers both computer and mobile access. Plug in a USB or SD card and get storage and printer functions – straight from the router! The RT1900ac also comes with free mobile and VPN apps for even more value.

With the RT1900ac, consumers have the ultimate control over their wireless networks and settings. Don’t want your kids watching YouTube on their computers all day? Set limits so they only stream the site for two hours daily – without adding limits to your own PC.  Using Application Layer Quality of Service (QoS), the Synology router lets users set bandwidth limits and website filters that control traffic – by device and individual applications.

Need to protect your children from adult content? With the RT1900ac, families can use parental controls that have a built-in DNS-based web-filter to block countless inappropriate websites, with a few simple clicks. Synology has created and will continue to update a DNS database that is comprised of thousands of inappropriate websites and grouped them by gambling, drugs, and adult content. Parents can use these preset filters to block entire groups of websites at one time, instead of manually entering them, individually. This makes the RT1900ac a huge time saver for households.
