Veeam Backup & Replication is a backup application for virtual environments built on VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisors.

We’re currently testing Veeam Backup for a solid replacement for our current backup system. Currently, we are using VDP (vSphere Data Protection). vSphere Data Protection creates an image-level backup on the entire virtual machine. The VDP appliance communicates with the vCenter Server to take a snapshot of a virtual machine’s . vmdk files. It’s a great application, but VMware doesn’t support it anymore.
