How to Re-enable the Health Monitor Feature in Dell VxRail After an Upgrade

Recently, a client contacted me about an issue they encountered after upgrading their Dell VxRail system. After the upgrade, they received a warning about the health monitor feature being disabled. This is a common step in the upgrade process—when upgrading VxRail firmware, the health monitor feature needs to be disabled during the procedure. However, it looks like the Dell engineer responsible for their upgrade forgot to re-enable it afterward. If this has happened to you, don’t worry—I’ll walk you through the steps to turn it back on.

Understanding the Warning

You might be wondering what this error looks like. If you navigate to the Monitor tab in your VxRail system and select Physical View, you may see a warning in orange that reads:

“Health monitoring is currently disabled and the information may not be accurate. Enable Health Monitoring.”

If you see this, it means that health monitoring is not active, and you should take steps to re-enable it.
