LG Electronics Launches Ultra HD 4K LED TVs

LG Electronics launched its third-generation Ultra HD 4K LED TV line-up at CE Week, which consists of  seven screen sizes in three model series, representing one of the most comprehensive on the market. LG’s new UB9800, UB9500 and UB8500 series Ultra HD TVs. These beautiful TVs have four times the resolution of 1080p Full HD. UB9800 Series – The top-of-the-line series is designed to meet the needs of consumers that demand larger screen sizes and improved sound to match 2160p resolution. It features LG’s proprietary picture quality enhancing technologies including LG LED Plus edge lighting with Local Dimming, wide viewing angles thanks to Ultra IPS panel technology, and an Ultra Clarity Index (UCI) of 1560 for smooth motion. It’s equipped to display native 4K content with the latest HDMI inputs, H.265 decoding and Smart TV+ webOS™ that makes accessing streaming content fast and simple. A high-performance harmon/ kardon-designed audio system completes the package: 70W 4.2 channel audio for model 65UB9800, 90W 5.2 channel for model 79UB9800 and 120W 5.2 channel for model 84UB9800. Available in 65-inch class (64.5-inch diagonal), 79-inch class (78.5-inch diagonal) and 84-inch class (84.0-inch diagonal) screen sizes, the UB9800 series has suggested prices of $4,499, $7,999 and $14,999, respectively.

LG’s 2014 models exceed the Consumer Electronics Association’s new characteristics for “Connected Ultra HDTVs,” and are designed to handle 4K content from streaming services such as Netflix.

UB8500 Series – The value-packed yet fully featured UB8500 series features LG LED Plus edge lighting with Local Dimming, Ultra IPS panel technology and 1200 UCI. Similar to its other Ultra HD counterparts, it features multiple HDMI inputs, H.265 decoding and Smart TV+ webOS™ which features an intuitive user interface that makes accessing streaming content fast and simple. With a 20W speaker system, it is available in 49-inch class (48.5-inch diagonal) and 55-inch class (54.6-inch diagonal) screen sizes with suggested prices of $1,499 and $1,999, respectively.

Another key differentiator for LG’s 2014 Ultra HD TVs are their advanced LED/LCD panels using IPS (in plane switching) technology to reproduce accurate colors. Equally significant, LG IPS panels provide and ultra wide viewing angle with less risk of color distortion or loss of contrast.
