Deploying Windows on Surface Pro Using MDT 2013

The Surface Pro is getting very popular that it finally landed in my office. That means I have to create an image or a deployment task sequence within the MDT server, so I could push out a custom image to the device. For my understanding, the Surface Pro doesn’t have an Ethernet port, but you can purchase a USB to Ethernet adapter or boot into a USB Flash Drive to install your image.

There are a couple of things you will need to get this to work for you deployment environment:

  1. Surface Pro drivers, network adapter and firmware drivers
  2. KB2968599: Quick Note-Taking Experience Feature for Windows 8.1
  3. A copy of Windows 8.1 x64 Pro or Enterprise edition (Surface Pro only supports these two Windows OS versions)
