Adding The Safe Mode Option To Windows 10 Boot Menu
Booting into Windows Safe Mode has been a quick tool for us Tech geeks when troubleshooting any issues with Windows computers. It’s a great tool because Safe Mode starts Windows with only limited set of files and drivers allow you to figure out what is wrong with your PC. Microsoft decided to make it very difficult within Windows 8 and Windows 10 to get to Safe Mode.
Step 1: Open up command prompt as an admin
Step 2: Type in the following commands:
bcdedit /copy {current} /d “BTNHD Windows 10 Safe Mode”
bcdedit /copy {current} /d “BTNHD Windows 10 Safe Mode with Networking”
bcdedit /copy {current} /d “BTNHD Windows 10 Safe Mode with Command Prompt”
Step 3: Open up the run dialog box and type “msconfig”
Step 4: Go into the Boot tab and configure the Safe Mode option to “Minimal”
Step 5: Go the Safe Mode with Networking option and make sure to option is set to “Network”
Step 6: Choose the last entry and make sure the option is set to “Alternate shell”
